Aquillea millenfolium is an herbaceous, rhizomatous plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family, with one or more erect stems (rarely branched), and little flowers gathered in chapters (corymbs). The Greeks named it after the hero Achilles, renowned for his invulnerability to wounds, and because he used it to heal his friend Telephus. Warriors carried it as an almost miraculous remedy, from where it came to be known also as Herb of Soldiers.
